If there’s one thing I believe, it’s that marketing communications—whatever the medium—has one function: to make an intellectual and emotional connection between those with something to sell and those who can buy. Those connections may take many forms, from subtle, informative messages to blatant proposition. What matters to me — and to my clients — is what matters to the intended audience. Creating an appeal that will motivate, provoke and inspire them to react is our goal. My approach is based on collaboration, informed exploration, strategic direction and artistic intuition, resulting in persuasive, compelling and effective design solutions.

About Ross Hogin

A fixture in the Seattle design community for over two decades, Ross Hogin works in independent practice serving business, non–profits and agency partners. With deep experience in both print and interactive disciplines, Ross Hogin Design delivers a seamless brand experience across a wide spectrum of media.

Working in both design and advertising, Ross earned his stripes working for some of Seattle’s largest design firms and agencies. He formed Ross Hogin Design in 1998, serving clients in both the Seattle and San Francisco markets. In 2006, he accepted a position with WONGDOODY, one of the West Coast’s most awarded creative agencies, serving as associate director of the design group until 2010, when he returned to independent practice.

He has experience working with clients both large and small, from blue-chip corporations such as Alaska Airlines, Boeing, Kenworth Truck Company, Microsoft, T-Mobile, Westin Hotels and Weyerhauser to smaller businesses like Avalanche Snowboards, Charter Bank, Cutter & Buck, Delta Marine and PopCap Games. He also has extensive experience working with non-profit organizations such as The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the YMCA of Greater Seattle, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alaska and Washington.

Ross has won numerous awards and has been published in Communication Arts, Graphis, HOW, Print, LogoLounge and Graphic Design USA. His logo work was recently recognized in four volumes of the LogoLounge Master Collection.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Advertising from Washington State University, a Master of Arts degree in Illustration from Syracuse University, and studies drawing and painting at the Gage Academy of Art. Ross teaches intermediate design at the School of Visual Concepts and has lectured at Cornish Academy of the Arts and Pacific Lutheran University.
